Is there anyway to tell if the ebooks Amazon sell come from a scanner or from the original electronic copy typed by the author?

Publishers hire the Typyest LOL Those from Amazon are from Publishers. Tho IF you incounter a mistake & report to amazon they will let publisher know so it gets corrected.

If it's a fairly recent book, it's probably an electronic copy.

If it's a backlist, it's probably from a scanner.

Your mileage may vary...

But there is no way to tell how the book got created. A book file is a book file.

... except by reading it.

If it's a scanned copy, you will often pick up errors of the sort a scanner would make, such as the letter "l" instead of an "i".

If the fonts cannot be altered, its probably a scanned copy. Very few are like that.
