Laptop does not "see" my KOBO

I got my 3rd KOBO today (prior two had problems with screen) and when I plug
it into my computer to sinc my books it does not show up on the computer as being there but my KOBO says that it is plugged in.
Please tell me this is easily fixed.
Thanks
