Dictionary easter egg?
Is this a dictionary easter egg? I looked up "supernumerary" in the dictionary and got this:
su-per-nu-mer-ar-y adj. present in excess of the normal or requites number, in particular (of a person) not belonging to a regular staff but engaged for extra work. not wanted or needed; redundant: books were obviously supernumerary. Bold text is mine. |

It's just a happy coincidence. If you look up the entry in the dictionary the full quote is "books were obviously supernumerary, and he began jettisoning them."
