There are some 156 books with the character of Doc Savage so someone must have liked them. lol.

They essentially were meant for the same audience for comic books, before there were comic books. Which ultimately killed these things off.
I'm not sure of the publishing schedule of Doc Savage, but The Shadow was published twice a month. So its stories were written in two weeks, for about a 180-200 page novel (in paperback terms) |

Doc Savage had a monthly schedule starting in March 1933 until the summer of 1949.
