Bargain - various HarperCollins reduced $0.99 - $2.99

Several books marked down from HarperCollins - sorry if there are any repeats.

The Widow's War - Sally Gunning $0.99 Kindle/B&N

In a colonial whaling village, Lyddie Berry is very happy with her husband, Edward, the home they've built together over the years, and the children they've raised. When Edward is lost in a whaling disaster, Lyddie discovers her new status as a widow is not equal to her former status as a wife. All of the property Lyddie and Edward have acquired is now the responsibility of Lyddie's tight-fisted son-in-law. Although destitute and grieving, Lyddie finds righteous anger and strength, and challenges her son-in-law when he violates the terms of her husband's will. This defiance leads her to question other values held by the community about a woman's place, and even as she loses her reputation and home, she gains a deeper sense of self.

Soul Song - Marjorie M. Liu (Dirk & Steele #6) $1.99 Kindle/B&N

World-renowned-violinist Kitala Bell is blessed with the gift to produce otherworldly music and cursed to foresee the violent deaths of others. She shuns her visions, protecting her sanity against the pain, until one woman's fate compels her to intervene. Kit now faces an all-too-imminent death until M'Cal steps out of the darkness and unleashes a song of destruction on her attackers, a song that calls to the melodies in her mind. Even in her mystical world, he is unlike anything she has known. A man imprisoned by past mistakes, forced to hunt her for his own captor, yet equally compelled to keep her safe.

In the Dark of Dreams - Marjorie M. Liu (Dirk & Steele #8) - $1.99 Kindle/B&N

She could never forget the boy with the ice blue eyes . . .
She was only twelve when she saw the silver boy on the beach, but Jenny has never stopped dreaming about him. Now she is grown, a marine biologist charting her own course in the family business—a corporation that covertly crosses the boundaries of science into realms of the unknown . . . and the incredible.
And now he has found her again, her boy grown into a man: Perrin, powerful and masculine, and so much more than human, leaving Jenny weak with desire and aching for his touch.
But with their reunion comes danger. For Perrin and Jenny—and all living creatures—their only hope for preventing the unthinkable lies in a mysterious empire far beneath the sea . . . and in the power of their dreams.

Hunter Killer - Patrick Robinson (Admiral Arnold Morgan #8) - $1.99 Kindle/B&N

Globe-trotting action-hero admiral Arnold Morgan (retired) returns in this typical Robinson potboiler. A Saudi Arabian prince is mounting a coup d'etat, aided by the French mercenary Le Chasseur (the Hunter) and Ravi Rashood, the world's most wanted terrorist. Fearing the collapse of the Saudi Arabian oil industry, not to mention the economy of the world, the Americans charge into action, and it's up to Morgan to crush the prince's rebellion. Can a showdown between Morgan and Rashood, his archnemesis, be far off? Fans of Robinson's big, meaty thrillers know what to expect: wall-to-wall military technology, dialogue that borders on turgid, and plenty of derring-do, with the future of the free world hanging, as always, in the balance.

A Well Favored Gentleman - Christina Dodd (Well Pleasured #2) $1.99 Kindle/B&N

Powerful Ian Fairchild is a man with magical powers and dark secrets--and he covets Fionnaway Manor. But the Scottish estate is owned by beautiful Lady Alanna, and Ian must marry her to gain the right to claim Fionnaway as his own. Alanna doesn't trust the handsome Ian but all too soon she finds herself falling in love with him. The secrets Ian holds may make it impossible for him to love her in return and despite Alanna's faith, his past and dark heritage threaten a happy ending for the two lovers.

Blindsighted - Karin Slaughter (Grant County #1) $1.99 Kindle/B&N

The sleepy town of Heartsdale, Georgia, is jolted into panic when Sara Linton, the town's pediatrician and coroner, finds Sibyl Adams, a young college professor, dead in the local diner. As well as being viciously raped, Sibyl has been cut: two deep knife wounds form a lethal cross over her stomach. But it's only once Sara starts to perform the postmortem that the full extent of the killer's brutality starts to become clear.

Kisscut (Grant County #2) - $3.99 Kindle
A Faint Cold Fear (Grant County #3) - $ 4.99 Kindle

City for Ranson - Robert W. Walker (Ransom #1) - $1.99 Kindle/B&N

Welcome to Chicago, 1893 -- where new wonders are being unveiled . . . and a monster feeds on the unsuspecting.

Tens of thousands are flocking to a bustling, wind-swept metropolis in the middle of America for the great Exposition of 1893 -- to seethe future and to ride Mr. Ferris's remarkable wheel. A city of hope and hardship has caught the attention of the world -- and a maniacal killer has made it his hunting ground.

Inspector Alastair Ransom carries the burden of the dead on his shoulders. But a demon far worse than Ransom's own is loose -- a bloodthirsty killer who preys on Chicago's most vulnerable citizens, his grisly handiwork masked by the glitter and frenzy of the World's Fair. But a haunted detective doesn't realize how desperate his search has become -- for each passing hour brings the slayer closer to his next intended victim: Alastair Ransom.

Shadows in the White City - Robert W. Walker (Ransom #2) - $2.99 Kindle/B&N

The nation and the world gaze in awe at Chicago's magnificent "White City" in this summer of 1893. But Inspector Alastair Ransom sees the rot beneath the splendor of the great Exposition—and he is consumed with an over-powering need for vengeance. "The Phantom of the Fair," a blood-thirsty fiend who nearly added Ransom to his ever-growing list of slaughtered victims, is still lurking somewhere in the shadows of Ferris's gargantuan Wheel. And to end the maniac's reign, Ransom refuses to play by the rules established by the police brass and the corrupt politicians—appointing himself judge, jury . . . and executioner.

One more . .

Eight Million Way to Die - Lawrence Block (Matthew Scudder #5) - $2.99 Kindle/B&N

Nobody knows better than Matthew Scudder how far down a person can sink in this city. A young prostitute named Kim knew it also—and she wanted out. Maybe Kim didn't deserve the life fate had dealt her. She surely didn't deserve her death. The alcoholic ex-cop turned p.i. was supposed to protect her, but someone slashed her to ribbons on a crumbling New York City waterfront pier. Now finding Kim's killer will be Scudder's penance. But there are lethal secrets hiding in the slain hooker's past that are far dirtier than her trade. And there are many ways of dying in this cruel and dangerous town—some quick and brutal ... and some agonizingly slow.

More HarperCollins bargains, from @Emily Bronte at the Amazon.com Kindle forum:

Seals the Warrior Breed: Casualties of War by H. Jay Riker for $2.99

Quote:
Product Description
The Snake in the Desert

The first generation of SEALs was forged in the steaming jungles of Vietnam, their deadly skills honed by combat. But jealousy brewing within the U.S. military bureaucracy threatened the future of the warrior elite, and shortsighted thinking forced them into pitched battles in Grenada and Panama that the SEALs shouldn't have fought and couldn't have won. Now the opportunity has finally come for redemption when the tanks of a ruthless Middle Eastern despot roll across the unprotected borders of a neighboring nation. Here, in a world of blood and oil, a new generation of SEALs is going in first to fight a new kind of war on its terms -- as Hunter–Killer teams of America's deadliest commandos plunge into a fast and murderous game of hide-seek-and-strike on Iraqi sands.
The Home Team: Undeclared War by Dennis Chalker for $2.99

Quote:
Product Description

A combination of Vince Flynn and Richard Marcinko, The Home Team series features a group of former Special Forces operators who have become the most lethal weapon in the war on terror––a war that is now fought on our own soil.

The story of one soldier pushed too far. When a scandal and cover–up within the service ended his career as a Navy SEAL, Ted 'Grim' Reaper returned to his home. But when drug dealing terrorists intrude on his early retirement and threaten his family, he bands together with a group of special forces operators to show the dealers the true meaning of retribution. Skilled in all forms of combat, weapons, explosives, special equipment, and tactics, the group of soldiers is unchecked by any government agency, unsupervised by any congressional committee, and fully prepared to do what must be done to win their own private war at any cost.
The Home Team: Hostile Borders by Dennis Chalker for $2.99

Quote:
Product Description

The second instalment of the Home Team series, a combination of Vince Flynn and Richard Marcinko. A select group of former Special Forces operators takes up arms against a Mexican cartel that's moved beyond drugs and diamonds to radioactive isotope smuggling.

Ex–Navy SEAL Ted Reaper packed his bags for Arizona, hoping to visit a good friend and catch up on some much–needed relaxation. But there is no rest for the weary when Reaper uncovers ties to a drug smuggling operation with ties to the Mexican military. As Reaper digs deeper, he discovers that his enemies to the south may be plotting to smuggle something even more dangerous than drugs across the border––terrorists armed with a dirty bomb.

Reaper tried to do things the right way, the legal way, by alerting the proper government officials and letting them deal with the crisis. But the military problem has a political component no one wants to dirty their hands with, and Reaper is asked if he can take the point in the American response. It won't be easy, it won't be official, it won't even be legal, but if the United States is going to be able to stop a threat south of the border, they are going to need to trust Ted "Grim" Reaper to recruit some Spec Ops buddies and win another one for the Home Team.
The Home Team: Weapons Grade by Dennis Chalker for $2.99

Quote:
Product Description

The third instalment of the HOME TEAM series, a combination of Vince Flynn and Richard Marcinko. Ex–Navy SEAL Ted Reaper and his expert team must rush to stop terrorists from launching weapons of mass destruction at the next space shuttle launch in Florida.

Ex–Navy SEAL Ted "Grim" Reaper has faced down enemies all over the world––and true to his name, when he shows his face, for the enemy, death is never far behind. But now he and his trusty group have turned their sights on protecting America within their own borders––the Home Team is ready and willing to take on any threats that evil, scheming terrorists can dream up.

Now an old Soviet partisan has resufaced, and while he may be without a homeland, he's not without the secrets of some of the deadliest biological weapons ever created––secrets he's willing to sell to the highest bidder, allowing terrorists to wreak unprecedented damage on American soil. And worse yet, once the terrorists strike their horrific bargain and obtain the weapons, they plan to target the U.S. when it's most vulnerable––during a shuttle launch in Florida, while the whole world is watching. Repear and his sturdy crew have never come up against a challenge like this before––a challenge with so much at stake––but if they don't stop this horrific plan, the sights of 9/11 will be a faint memory, as America, and the world, reel from this catastrophic attack played out in front of every television viewer worldwide.

Here's another one:

The Next Queen of Heaven: A Novel by Gregory Maguire for $2.99

Quote:
Product Description

With the new millennium approaching, the eccentric town of Thebes grows even stranger. Mrs. Leontina Scales begins speaking in tongues after being clocked by a Catholic statuette. Her daughter, Tabitha, and her sons scheme to save their mother or surrender her to Jesus—whatever comes first. Meanwhile, choir director Jeremy Carr, caught between lust and ambition, fumbles his way toward Y2K. The ancient Sisters of the Sorrowful Mysteries join with a gay singing group. The Radical Radiants battle the Catholics. A Christmas pageant goes horribly awry. And a child is born.

Only a modern master like Gregory Maguire could spin a tale as frantic, funny, and farcical as The Next Queen of Heaven.

Long comes highly recommended by several Romance blogs. Specially the series and it's #1 in the the Pennyroyal series. I can't read out of sequence. lol There another one of her books on Summer reads for $1.99

I saw the Whisper Falls it's book #3 in her Destiny series while One Reckless Summer is book #1. I'd grabbed them but I think I have them already in paperback somewhere. lol One of these days I'm going to catalog my regular books.

These are some good deals! I have most of the romances though.
It be nice to see some of the newer stuff discounted but this is a start!
