2. Because they contain a lot of water? 3. The middle ear is sealed, except for the eustacian tubes. Going down a mountain, the outside air pressure increases, but the pressure in the middle ear doesn't, and you feel he difference on your ear-drum, until the pressures equalise through the eustacian tubes. 4. Gills extract oxygen from water, lungs from air. 5. About six weeks? They're destroyed in the liver, I think. |

4. Water flows over the gills, and the gills absorb oxygen from the water. The lungs suck in air, and takes oxygen from there. There are also other differences; size, etc., but I believe this is the main difference 5. Red blood cells "lives" about 100 days. Since they lack a cell core (and therefore have no DNA) they cannot repair themselves. They are collected and broken down in the liver and new blood cells are created inside the large bones in the body |

1. What are the main endocrine glands of the human body? Pdurrant got most of 'em! Missed the parathyroids, but full credit anyway.
2. Why does the urinary volume increase when alcoholic beverages are ingested? Bilbo for the correct answer but without the reasoning. Let's call it 3/4 credit. 3. Why is there a sense of pressure change inside the ear when someone goes down a mountain? Pdurrant full credit 4. What is the difference between gills and lungs? Yes, but not the biological answer I was looking for. 5. On average what is the life duration of the red blood cells? Where are they destroyed? Nope, not even close Stitchawl |

The spleen has something to do with red blood cells but I thought it helped make them, not destroy them but I am running out of organs.

We'll give this one to you this time, just for using the correct words. Sorry, but that's a saprophytic relationship. They sort of use each other, no destruction. Quote:
But I think Paul has trumped this questions with enough correct answers (somebody tell me if I'm wrong) so let's turn the podium over to Pdurrant. Stitchawl |

But I'll take up the quiz mantel. A quick multiple choice. 1. Adam is married. Caleb is unmarried. Adam is looking at Ben, Ben is looking at Caleb. Is a married person looking at an unmarried person? A: Yes B: No C: It's impossible to tell 2. I offer you an even money bet that I will roll a six in three rolls of a fair die. If you enjoy gambling when the odds are in your favour, should you take the bet? A: Yes B: No 3. Norwich and London are 150 miles apart. A car sets off from Norwich towards London at 40mph and a bicycle sets off from London to Norwich at 10mph at the same time. Which is closer to London when they pass? A. The car B. The bicycle C. The blue one next to the fish. |

2. B. It's 50% chance, so the odds can't be said to be in my favour (assuming "odds in my favour" <=> "odds > 50%"). Unless, of course, that I choose to gamble even though I don't enjoy it 3. A, B and C. Both the car and the bicycle has the same distance from London when they meet. So if only one answer is allowed, C is the only possibility. If one or more answers are allowed, A and B is my guess Last edited by Iznogood; 03-29-2013 at 09:44 AM. |
