Fictionwise: eSlick Reader for $259 with $100 for eBooks
Just got this offer in my email, thought I would share it for those not on their email list.
Buy the eSlick reader for $259 and you are credited with $100 of micro pay (store credit) to help you fell that thing with ebooks. BOb Update: eReader.com has the same offer. Last edited by pilotbob; 12-11-2009 at 07:33 PM. |

I can't find any mention of the eSlick on the Fictionwise web site. I only see the eBookwise. Did they provide a link?
EDIT: Nevermind, found it. Last edited by daffy4u; 12-11-2009 at 06:29 PM. |

I think all the b/w eink readers will get discounts because the new color readers will appear sometime next year. Must clear the shelves for the new stuff.

I was pretty tempted by this deal until I saw the reviews for the eSlick. Pity they don't have a better reader to offer

No way! My prediction is no color e-ink e-readers in 2010. Maybe a prototype by the end of the year but nothing for the consumer.

does anyone know if this supports Fictionwise's Secure eReader format? Fictionwise nor Foxit make this very clear.

eSlick supports eReader with DRM
The Foxit eSlick bookstore is listing for sale commercial big-publisher ebooks with eReader's DRM system, including several of my own titles, so the device must support reading eReader books with digital-rights management.

I'm sure that the eSlick supports all Secure eReader ebooks, but Foxit does a very poor job of saying so on their own web site and at Fictionwise. Their own ebook site is using eReader DRM, and the manual includes instructions for putting in the username and password (credit card info). On their Forum a good tip was that the credit card user name is case insensitive and does not need spaces. This is an issue because you have to use a not very responsive on-screen keyboard to enter the info. As usual, you only need do this once per credit card.

Thanks for the answers, since this supports the secure format I'm leaning pretty heavily towards trying one of these readers. For that price plus the free ebooks it seems like a pretty decent deal.

I'm considering this deal, too, especially since I have a Fictionwise Buywise membership and would get an additional 15% Micropay credit ($39) on top of the $104 credit in the offer, bringing the total to $117 for the eSlick reader and $143 in credit to spend on ebooks.

Does anyone know if Fictionwise Micropay credit can be used on physical goods like the eSlick? If so, their current 25% off gift certificates promotion could be used to purchase enough credit to cover the price of the eSlick for around $200. Quote:
