PRS-650 Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs & Missing Pictures

Hi there I hope someone can help me. Im a new owner of the Sony PRS 650, and am very pleased with it apart from a few issues.
I read a lot of books on Egyptology, and many of these have Hieroglyphs in the text, when viewed on the smallest size, they appear perfectly, however at this level the book is not very easy to read, if the text is enlarged, these characters disappear. Has anyone got any help or advice as to how i can fix this. The second issue i have is that on some of my PDF's, images do not show up on the reader. I have to add that all my books are PDF's, and are put on the reader using Calibre.

Use the zoom function to enlarge text which will preserve special characters while you leave the text size at default. Try transferring books with the sony library software to see if your images are preserved.

You may wish to keep the files as PDFs as even Calibre does not do a perfect conversion of these to epub. Nothing converts PDFs very well. It usually takes a human touch to come up with an acceptable conversion of a PDF to epub.

When using a PDFm, you can use the Zoom like doctj said.
