Clueless Newbie Needs Help!
Hi, I'm getting ready to do a semester abroad (from California, USA to London, UK) and am hurriedly trying to get my assigned readings loaded onto my new nook before I go. One of the books that's not available for purchase online is Dorthy Sayers "Gaudy Night."
It seems to be available on this site, but I can't figure it out. When I try to download the Guide, my computer can't open it. When I get myself situated in my new digs, in London, I hope to join the community here on MobileRead. For now, I'm just trying to get the books that I need. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Hi Shawnsea, welcome to MR!
A semester abroad is a wonderful thing to do--congratulations! Yes, I see Gaudy Night here at MR. The link is for the epub version, which I think is what your Nook uses. But I also see a message there that there might be a problem with the file. Maybe the thing to do is to send a PM to weatherwax who uploaded the book to see if they can help you. |

Yup, it's in ePub format here at MobileRead, Shawnsea, which means it'll be well presented and proof read by an MR member rather than having gone through a mere auto-conversion process. I believe Nook handles ePub well, but I think your machine automatically right-justifies text which can sometimes cause ugly word-spacing. It's not hard to live with that wee hitch, though, and you'll soon come to overlook it.
I guarantee you'll have a whale of a time as a student in 'The Smoke' (London's nickname in the UK, earned because of the notorious old London 'pea-soupers' [dense smogs]. Don't worry -- they're now in the dim and distant past). Good to have your new company. Catch you again soon, I hope. Best wishes. Neil |
