Slicing water buffalo bone. I'm cutting slabs from the leg bones to turn into guitar bridge saddles. After hearing the difference in tone the other night that my new bone saddle made, my guitar playing friends all want to custom-made bone saddles for their guitars.

Taking a much-earned break after a month's hard slog on the final draft of a new novel. Emailed it to my editor yesterday and then sighed hugely with relief. Today, I've been doing little bits of shopping, getting my hair cut, mowing the front lawn. All of it a pleasure after week after week chained to the laptop until 8 most evenings.
Which might make it sound as though I don't enjoy writing, which is absolutely not true. But when it comes to final drafts, as Thomas Hardy once remarked, it can be like breaking rocks. |

I'm so glad I bought me Kobo Aura HD from CoolBlue. I got it yesterday and had a bright pinprick almost slap bang in the middle of the screen, visible when you turned up the lighting higher than 35%. I called them and they send me a return label, I dropped it off at the post office that same afternoon. This afternoon I got an email confirming that they received my package, a little later I got another email telling me that they were looking into the problem. I just checked the status online and it now says they confirmed the problem and a new Aura HD has been send!
So, if you see me walking around funny and being clumsy it's because I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that I will get a pinprick free Aura HD tomorrow. |

Here's hoping you'll remain pinprick free.

Whoop whoop. Nice Tom. I am actually considering a Win 8.1. I have been playing with a desktop at a temp site and although I get lost looking for stuff I am use to, it was easier to adjust to than I thought.
Rumpelteazer Glad you are finally done with the book Tony Richards, but reading your list just reminded me that my lawn has to be mowed. Waiting for my coffee to brew. |

You're still running Vista, aren't you? That's what I was running before buying and installing a copy of Windows 8 on my old, now for all practical purposes defunct computer. Windows 8 has a bit of a learning curve, but if you like it (I do), you'll love what 8.1 does with the place. While Windows 8 was a completely different beast, Windows 8.1 is more like Vista with new options. Can't say how it compares with Windows 7, as I leaped right over that one.
