The Guardian and Observer Books Power 100

The Guardian and Observer have an interesting feature this weekend called books power 100, about the most influential people in books.

Here is a search that shows the various articles.

Bezos is at number 1, recognising the impact of Amazon and the Kindle on the book world.

Interesting, but as they admit, very subjective. JK Rowling the second most influential person in UK publishing...not sure I can see that.

Harry Potter tops the list of best selling book series on Wikipedia, and is about to be released as an ebook, so I guess that's the root of it. But, you're right, it is a subjective view.

One thing that struck me in general, though, was that it's a very heavily e-book influenced list, which is I think right, but telling.

No Steve Jobs? And Mariella Frostup, one of my favorite BBC people, is far too low on the list. .
