The Verge: Sony S Tablet Price Cut...in England

http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/17/2...s-price-cut-uk

Quote:
The Tablet S, Sony's rolled-up magazine of an Android tablet, has received a £50 price cut in the UK, amid what we're hearing are disappointing sales. It launched in September at £399 for a 16GB Wi-Fi-only model and £479 for its 32GB sibling, but as of today, the pair are listed at £349 and £429, respectively, on the Sony Store website. The 3G-equipped 16GB model that started out at £499 doesn't have a price attached to it at the moment and isn't available for purchase.
Wonder if the US store will follow suit.

Disappointing sales means they were priced too high. But then, why should Sony care? They always overprice.

Doesn't surprise me that they're dropping prices. I just hope that when the s2/Tablet P makes it out, they drop some prices to make it more attractive.

Screen ratio is totally wrong for a tablet.
I know many people who refused to buy it because of that.

It is too expensive for all but "early adopters", agreed. But then, we don't know how much does it cost to manufacture, especially considering relatively small volume.

Uhm, what? Screen ratio is actually perfect for a tablet. It allows you to browse sites that are made for wider screens (1280) narrower screens (800, actually with opera mobile you can have text perfectly matching screen width both ways on absolute majority of sites) and actually enjoy watching normal, wide format video, unlike with ipad.

I'd understand some refuse to buy it because it is not quite like an ipad.

PS
I was choosing between Sony S1 and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Sony had very intersting feature of serving as a remote control, SD card slot and more ergonomic shape, but cheaper plastic feel and 3G version is too expensive, so in the end I've decided for Samsung, rumoured to have best tablet screen ever released so far and ended never actually using 3G, thanks to tethering.
