Kobo book club 2012

I like this idea:

http://blog.kobobooks.com/kobo-2012-book-club/

If you register a new Kobo Touch between now and March 31, 2012, you can get 12 free ebooks. Valid only in Canada and the U.S.

Sadly it is not available for those of us who are already Kobo Touch owners. :-(

Bummer on only one count. According to the Kobo blog post announcing this (here) the offer is available to residents of both Canada and the U.S.

The books aren't too great anyway.

Lucky me! I just bought and registered my Touch this past week.

Does this happen automatically? I checked that I had done all the right things but there was no indication that I qualified for the Kobo Book Club.

I have it on good authority (I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you) that there are some special perks coming for other Kobo customers. I have no idea what or when.

I paid full price for a Touch. I didn't get a $20 gift card or free books. But I feel I got good value and am happy with my purchase. I don't feel hard done by.

I think it depends on when last week, the start date for this promotion seems to be Nov 24

Any word on whether this has started yet or not? I got my touch for Christmas and still haven't seen anything.

I just got the email today. The options for free books are:

STAR WARS VS. STAR TREK
By Matt Forbeck

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE: THE WILD & WANTON EDITION
By Annabella Bloom and Jane Austen

HBR'S 10 MUST READS ON MANAGING PEOPLE
By Harvard Business Review

I can't say any of these appeal to me, but I choose the Star Wars one, just to flip through it.

I can't decide which of the offered books I dislike the least. Code: JANBOOK. Maybe something will appeal to someone else.

Ok so the book club was supposed to be only applicable to those in the US & Canada and to those that purchased a Kobo after a certain date however I dont have a Kobo and are from Australia and the coupon works. So looks like anyone can partake as long as someone posts the code
Pitty the book choice is so ordinary.

So it's March now, have they released the February list yet?

The February ones were mentioned in the Kobo discount thread
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=573
The books were Hearts at Stake - Alyxandra Harvey or Stolen Away - Alyxandra Harvey
not sure if the March ones had been announced yet

I picked up Stolen Away. It was an amusing, slight read. Not anything I would pay money for, but hey, if Kobo wants to give it to me for free, I'm not gonna argue. Free is free, after all.
