One thing to look at (and unfortunately I can't really tell you how to change it off the top of my head) is that at least the first time you switch between the two it will ask if you want to change which version opens by default. I use OneNote on my Surface 3, but I prefer the desktop interface. |

One had a hard drive crash but I was able to replace myself with one twice as big. I've been using it for my DVR/TV receiver for about 5 years now... |

I did originally set the desktop version (2013) as the default but i've managed to get that switched off (no idea how) as now the desktop version keeps asking me if I want it set as default. I keep selecting Ask Me Later. The Desktop version is working fine, its the metro app that just won't recognise I have anything already in OneNote |

The only problem I have seen with Windows 10 so far is that DLNA wouldn't work to my Blue-ray player when I tried to view pictures on my TV. Turns out that it must be turned on in the system settings rather than the media player. See the DLNA article in our wiki for details.

About your question, where are your OneNote files stored? The metro app only reads them from OneDrive if I recall correctly. |

I've had some reports that with Windows 10, Freda turns two pages when you only wanted to turn one. Adjusting the page turn settings seems to help with that issue.
In any case, I am nearly ready with Freda update targeting Windows 10 (and Windows 10 Mobile when it comes). Expect it to appear in the Store in the next couple of weeks (subject to the time it takes for some last minute bug-fixes. and for certification). It is, I hope, a big improvement on the existing Windows 8.1 application (notably the UI for turning pages, selecting text, highlighting and bookmarking is smoother, and highlight/bookmark/search/translate/lookup can all be done at a single touch using a 'pinned' actions menu). |

I also had a problem if when I opened a new Notebook directly on my Surface from within the desktop OneNote. It wouldn't sync to OneDrive, and in desperation I tried to delete it from within OneNote, it said it was read only and I didn't have permission . In the end I went to the actual location through OneNote (which told me it was a unsafe location and did I want to proceed ) and deleted it from there which removed it from OneNote. I'll just need to keep an eye on where I set up Notebooks and how everything sits together. It's obvious after today's debacle that it's impossible to actually get any help from Microsoft so I'll just play around with it and see what I can do. |

Started to set up Cortona - they require location is on - they require you to use your Microsoft account as your user account information - these people are CONTROL FREAKS!

Ain't that the truth. Did web chat with support to find out why it wanted a password on my Surface 3 every time it woke up even when set not to. Fortunately I only wasted 5 minutes as about the 4th response was "Well, Windows 10 has some different features than Windows 8 does...." . I realized at that point it was going to be a waste of my time to continue the conversation.

Upgraded an older Win. 7 and a new 8.1 laptop with no troubles. Created a recovery disc and then clean-installed on both. Everything went without a hitch. Good work, Microsoft.

I thought that on day 1, then next day I found one pc had no sound, needed a driver update, another needed a new Nvidia driver, monitors reverted to 1024 768 a couple of times... all my lan shares needed resetting. as pcs could no longer access each other... still, it is free, it is activated.... I used upgrade only, clean install of all programs , games, data and settings would be mucho hassle

Okay, this is where I utter my amazement (and not in a good way). Is it really the case that the Kindle app is useless and there are no resonable apps to read ebooks on for a Windows PC.
I never really considered that the Kindle app wouldn't support docs or Cloud Collections. It's not a big issue really I'm just astonished by how bad the Kindle app is |
