Search and Replace or remove Metadata

Is it possible to do a Seach and Replace or Removal of a string for metadata?

e.g. Title: "The Day the Wind Broke [html]"
Find all "[html]" in title and remove
New Title: "The Day the Wind Broke"

Thanksx

As Kovid's answer implies, this is possible with a lot of work, using seldom used Calibre tools and other non-Calibre components. I'm reasonably familiar with how this could be done, but still, I'd probably not bother. The simpler answer is to search for title:html and then fix them individually. Alternatively, export them without the opf file, reimport them (as duplicates), using a better regex that does not pick up the [html] portion of the filename in the title, then merge the old book record into the newer one to keep the metadata.
