Copyright No Longer Exists...what happens next?
So we all wake up Jan 1st 2010 and copyright no longer exists. There is no DMCA, no DRM, no Disney and their everloving mouse. What happens next?
Keep it silly or I'll bring down the Mighty Politely-Asking-You-Stop Hammer of Justice!!! |

I would purchase that book in an instant. What's not to like about it, romance, suspense, pirates, lost things...Dean Koontz and his hair plugs

The most bizarre Disney pornography every dredged up from the sordid minds of fans hits YouTube, with soundtracks packed with clips of 80's pop songs.
This takes six months for everyone to get bored of, except for a few devout trolls who have chosen one two-minute interval as the new Rickroll and try to inflict it on everyone. A small student-run film group starts making a *good* miniseries version of the Sandman graphic novels. Gaiman works as a consultant. Another small, student-run film group starts making a movie version of the first Anita Blake novel. Hamilton curses them profusely in her blog. They ignore her, and sell copies of her books at the opening of the movie, which she hates them for. A fangroup releases an MST3K version of each of the Harry Potter movies. Another one does the same to Lord of the Rings. They sell it in a boxed set with copies of The Very Secret Diaries. Six thousand slash fanfic novels about Star Trek are released. Some of them are amazingly good. Associated Press files 1200 lawsuits in January alone, alleging "EULA contract violations." Everyone's pretty sure nothing will come of any of them (they're obviously just attempts to enforce nonexistent copyrights), but a lot of lawyers are gonna be very busy for a while. |

The movie The Life and Times of VR (also know as The Bacon Chronicles) start filming at UCLA film school. RSE, Phrynk, GeoffC, and Zelda Pinwheel are script consultants.

Cats and dogs will live in unholy unions, and broccoli will taste like asparagus flavored ice cream.
Boy bands will die out and everyone will wonder why the ever put up with the crap that had been shoved down their artistic pallets for the past <life + 75> years. |

Millions and millions of now unemployed letter c's (sitting in the middle of circles) crowd onto the streets, begging, next to scrawled signs like "327 lawyers and 89 media executives to support: please give generously."
But then the c's start to fight amongst each other over which one that came up with the sign first. The resultant riots spread rapidly across the planet and the ensuing damage trashes shops, bars, law courts, cinemas, theatre and political reputations (basically, all their old haunts). The police forces are overwhelmed. The armies are called out to do battle with the now blood-lust driven letter c's. And so starts mankind's last struggle for survival... |
