September 11 books
I'm going on a long trip next month. Like 24 hour transportation trip. Hence, I'm looking for something interesting to read about the 9/11 attack. I clearly remember pumping gas in my car when the radio broadcast was interrupted with breaking news. Like anyone else I was so stunned that had the pump not had automatic shutdown I would have flooded the station.
It has now been what, almost ten years? So I thought it would be interesting to read two books about it, one fiction and one non-fiction. The fiction has to be primarily entertaining, while the non-fiction should be as a-political as possible. Any recommendations? And, oh yeah, it has to be available on the Kindle. |

For the Non-Fiction: The complete 9/11 Commission Report, in PDF and HTML (would need to be converted for Kindle),
For Fiction: I'd say "Dead Air" (Iain Banks), but I strangely enough only seem to find it available for Microsoft Reader. Last edited by colinsky; 11-12-2010 at 03:44 AM. |

For non-fiction, take a look at "The Looming Tower: Al Qaeda and the Road to 9/11" by Lawrence Wright. I read it a few years ago when it came out and it was excellent. Very gripping story; "couldn't put it down", as they say. Available for Kindle.

Thank you, thank you!
Seems like some interesting reads (government report excluded, not for content, for lack of entertainment - horrible word to use in this context, I completely agree). |
