Yep. I just hope my poor Purple Sandcherry survives.
Of course, the dog thinks I should be playing with him instead of taking pictures of ice covered objects in the backyard. |

Yikes! Your icy photos made me shiver!
Today we are having some really spooky unnatural weather. In the south we have 'hurricane weather' - days of warm, humid, gusty weather with ominous gray/black clouds and a sense of impending menace - very 'close' weather. On Dec. 22 our high temps should shatter all records - it was 69 F when I got up, and going to hit 79 F this afternoon! I can't remember an Xmas season this strange ... meteorologically speaking ... |

Oh, beautiful dog, Red! Hope your sand cherry survives. We haven't lost any trees (yet), but a lilac is in danger and some others have come down in our neighbourhood.

Sitting here in a pair of shorts and about to go outside and read my Kindle on the deck. That should tell you everything you need to know about the weather in Tidewater.

Reading my Kindle outside under the palm trees. I earned this having driven 1200 miles and over many snow-covered, icy mountain passes to get here (-9 the morning I left La Grande, Oregon). Worth it.

This blog post says it all: http://www.blogto.com/city/2013/12/3..._to_ice_storm/
Fortunately, I'm downtown, which was spared the worst of it - I had to scrape some ice off the sidewalks, but never lost power (so far). But there's no salt left in the stores, so that's the best I can do. |

I had two 20kg bags of salt before the storm, but I have elderly relatives who are none too steady on their feet in the best of weather so it's gone now. |

We're having strong winds/gale. The peak is supposed to be tonight, but I'm a little worried since I have to bring my bike to the repair shop tomorrow morning and it's about 9 km from my place.
I guess I'll see tomorrow if it seems safe to ride there. |
