Whilst I by far prefer Android over iOS, I wish Apple every success with their products as competition is important.
If Apple weren't there with their legions of customers, Android wouldn't be worked on so hard to compete in the market. |

I am no potential Apple customer anymore. I wish them all the best, though. I am just glad that those times are over when they were perceived as industry leaders and every Tom, Dick, and Harry thought they had to do what Apple does to be successful. This has even saddled other OSs and hardware with a lot of unnecessary and annoying limitation in the past. But as the latest phones and tablets from other manufacturers show they have learned to rise above that and finally innovate above and beyond the "Apple way". Android and WM now basically continue to develop completely independent of iOS, and so do the devices.

Turned out to be too little, too late. Here's somebody with an odd (negative) take on Blackberry's future: http://news.cnet.com/8301-33617_3-57...ve-blackberry/ He sort-of hints at what will be their biggest challenge: Developer attention. App developers will preferentially go with the biggest install base: iOS, Android head that list. Microsoft is a distant third, though growing fast with the Windows leverage. Blackberry starts out 4th. By the time the start-up with the next "cool" app gets to them, the app may no longer be all that new or cool. A steep climb ahead at best. And apple outsold samsung in the fourth quarter, but not for the annual numbers so I feel the headline is deceptive.

A new release for Apple combined with no new release for Samsung helped with that quarter, meaning it is unlikely to be repeated, I would guess. |

Some people want "their Blackberrys" back.
Digital Trends- on the new BB10 "Apps are the driving force behind the smartphone revolution. Can BlackBerry 10 offer potential customers the apps and games they really want? blackberry-10-cap-graphic At the launch event for BB 10 yesterday BlackBerry’s VP of Global Alliances and Business Development, Martyn Mallick, claimed that apps are “at the heart” of the new platform. He made a big deal out of the fact that everyone wants their favorites and went on to talk about BlackBerry’s great partnerships with developers which will deliver them. For a new platform to hit the ground running with more than 70,000 apps is impressive and there are some big names in the launch line-up, but is it enough for success? Looking beyond the popular apps that BlackBerry has secured, there are some glaring omissions that could turn people off the new platform. A lack of Google apps, no eBay, no Instagram, no Spotify, and no Netflix immediately spring to mind. We know that eBay is on the way, but despite BlackBerry’s best efforts, we have no confirmation on when, or even if, the others might land on BB 10.--" |

I've had an Iphone since the first one came out in '07. I also had a first generation Ipad. I also have Samsung products (tv's) and checked out all the android handhelds but have opted just to stay with the Iphone cause, well, it just works and does everything I need for it to do. I usually roll my eyes at these type of postings (Apple vs. Samsung and all the derivitives) cause both companies have their fans and to each their own. Each product has their merits but the one thing no one can ever deny is that Apple created the first true touch screen consumer friendly phone. Sure, Samsung may have caught up in market share or passed Apple depending on what you read, but does it matter? Apple's success forced other companies to innovate and offer a choice in electronic handheld devices. Remember trying to text on a motorola razor? Does it really matter which one is better? No, cause no matter which one you choose for whatever reasons, will work and as long as you, the customer, is satisfied, is what truly counts.
