30 Seconds over Tokyo from the Chinese perspective?
I recently read 30 Seconds over Tokyo, the story of the Doolittle raid. The Chinese people were eager to help the airmen, and suffered when the Japanese retaliated. Does anyone know if there are any books about this from the Chinese perspective, from the perspective of the people who helped out these airmen?

There is a brief discussion of the consequences to China of the Doolittle Raid in Barbara Tuchman's "Stilwell and the American Experience in China, 1911-1945", but, as indicated by the title, it is from the American perspective. I'd love to read something from a Chinese perspective, keeping in mind that China was really in the middle of a civil war during that time, so there are probably multiple perspectives.
BTW, have you ever seen the Hollywood treatment of the raid, (same title as Lawson's book, with Spencer Tracey as Jimmy Doolittle)? Doolittle made some significant contributions to aviation in his career, especially in pioneering instrument flying. I recently read Winston Groom's "The Aviators", which includes coverage of Doolittle. |

I've seen the movie, but that was a very long time ago, so I don't remember much. The book is interesting because it was put out so soon after the raid that there wasn't that much time to create a mythology around it.
