Renaming Libraries
Oooops that should read renaming libraries [ fixed ]
Could someone explain the renaming of libraries for me. If you rename a library which directory is it found in - same goes for a new library (if you have more than one). What is actually happening if you create or rename a directory with the Calibre directory - I'm getting a little mixed-up. Thanks Last edited by theducks; 06-07-2012 at 10:17 AM. AFAIK The Library name is the (main library) folder name.
What you do inside Calibre is connect the program to 'Library folders' (and add them to the Quick switch list) So if you rename (a limited move) the Library folder will change names. |

@JCSullivan - the folder name *is* the library name calibre will use. The problem is if you just rename the folder outside of calibre, then calibre won't know about it in its dropdown menu of libraries. So then you have to fix it up in calibre using functions in its Library menu to remove the old library name, and "open" the library at its new location so calibre can use that name in future.
So long as you stick to using calibre to rename a library (by choosing the "Move current library to a new location") option, you avoid creating a mess to clean up later. |
