Hello

Hi, I've been browsing this forum for a couple of weeks and decided to register myself.

I've recently became the owner of a Cybook Gen3 (in fact just got it today on the mail).

I chose the Cybook after careful consideration and extensive reading on some threads here. I was inclined to get a Sony Reader PRS-505 but influenced by HarryT (I think that's his nickname) opted instead for the Bookeen Cybook. In the coming weeks I'll see if it was a reasonable choice.

Lastly I should say that I hail from Portugal, a small country in Europe, near Spain.

See you all around.

Welcome! When you've had a chance to use the Cybook for a while, let us know how you like it.

Hi Thanabur and welcome to the Forum. Are eBooks popular in Portugal?

Thank you for your welcome!

Unfortunately, cassidym, e-books are not popular in Portugal. In fact the publishing houses have no idea for the potencial of the internet. Suffice to say that to the exception of two publishers not a single one has in the past invested on new formats like audiobook. So if not even audiobooks or a strong internet presence qualifies as honorable there's no great chance that e-books will ever be popular with portuguese publishing houses. On the other hand our people has the most high early adoption ratios in Europe (we've got more mobiles per capita than most european countries). We just love to flaunt our new gadgets and I think that my e-reader will make an impact on the commuter train next week.

Sadly publishing houses are for the most taken by very conservative minds that view any shaking of the status quo tree as potencially harmful.

Hello Deolinda.

Since your portuguese i'm going to default to our mother's tongue.

Na verdade o único ereader com assistência técnica em Portugal é o Kobo, via FNAC.

O Kindle não tem assistência cá.

Quanto a livros para miúdos em ebooks em Portugal não há grande escolha nem a pagar nem grátis.
