Free Book (Kindle) - Writing Fiction For Dummies [ENDED]
Writing Fiction For Dummies, by Peter Economy & Randy Ingermanson
Book Description A complete guide to writing and selling your novel So you want to write a novel? Great! That’s a worthy goal, no matter what your reason. But don’t settle for just writing a novel. Aim high. Write a novel that you intend to sell to a publisher. Writing Fiction for Dummies is a complete guide designed to coach you every step along the path from beginning writer to royalty-earning author. Here are some things you’ll learn in Writing Fiction for Dummies: * Strategic Planning: Pinpoint where you are on the roadmap to publication; discover what every reader desperately wants from a story; home in on a marketable category; choose from among the four most common creative styles; and learn the self-management methods of professional writers. * Writing Powerful Fiction: Construct a story world that rings true; create believable, unpredictable characters; build a strong plot with all six layers of complexity of a modern novel; and infuse it all with a strong theme. * Self-Editing Your Novel: Psychoanalyze your characters to bring them fully to life; edit your story structure from the top down; fix broken scenes; and polish your action and dialogue. * Finding An Agent and Getting Published: Write a query letter, a synopsis, and a proposal; pitch your work to agents and editors without fear. Writing Fiction For Dummies takes you from being a writer to being an author. It can happen—if you have the talent and persistence to do what you need to do. Drat, you beat me to posting about it koland. lol. It is a very good book. The text expands on the Snowflake Method of writing in a lot of ways. I have a copy of the pbook and just got my kindle version for easy transport.

Yep, hard to keep up with all the freebies today. 31 earlier and two more (one a repeat) tonight).... so far.
Probably more, but the search tools at Amazon are all broken, so finding them requires brute searches and checking every page for prices. |

Finding out about this one was a bit simpler for me. I got an email from Randy Ingermanson (who co-wrote the book) since I had bought his Snowflake Pro software a while back. It's always a challenge to find the free books at amazon I think. I mean the classics are usually free, but they really need a tab for contemporary fiction that's free at the moment. Or one that's easier to find if they already have one.

This is an interesting book, but it's utility is harmed by a lack of chapters. All the freebies I got today, none of them had chapter breaks.
But for this, it hurts. I guess technically it has chapters, since it has a TOC. But you can't skip them easily... |

Not sure what you mean Jeremy. I can go to any chapter I wish in the book via the TOC with ease and I'm using the Kindle for PC app.

I've always wanted to write fiction for intellectually challenged people.
Perhaps this book will help? Don Last edited by Dr. Drib; 11-16-2010 at 12:49 PM. |

The free period is over but the book is marked down from $19.99 to $9.89 here in the U.S. so not a bad bargain at 51% off I think if a person doesn't already have a copy.
