PID for iphone?
I bought a Kindle book tonight and I have the .prc file but Calibre is telling me it is DRM protected. I know how to run a mobidedrm but need to know how to generate my pid. I have read 20+ pages in a thread about it but they keep saying my serial number shows up on Amazon but it doesn't. How can I go about generating the PID so I can read these cheap amazon books on my Sony?

I got my UDID for the iphone. It appears to be much longer than the normal 10 digit number I was expecting. THis one is approx 30 characters.
Anyway I placed it in the pid_checksum.py and it does not like the format at all. Is there another way to get the PID for this? I have several books I would like to get to |

You use that UDID to generate the normal PID. I think the script is Igor's KindlePID.py
Good luck! Stacy |

I just spent a good portion of last night and this morning trying to find the proper PID for my device, and finally managed to do it with the help of this thread.
I used used kindlepid.py to 'find' the 'real' PID for my iphone, which generated a 10 digit PID, letters not numbers. I used this new generated PID with mobidedrm005.py and I still got the "Error: invalid PID checksum" result. Frustration getting worse. I then decided to try and use the previous mobidedrm.py versions as suggested in other posts, and it was not until I used the original mobidedrm.py that I was able to successfully use the script, removing the drm. Hope this helps someone. |
