Thumbs up Tom Sharpe Books

This guy is hysterical. I've read about five of his books over the period of 2 years, and I am planning to read the rest over time. I'm savoring the books and don't want to gorge on them all at one time.

He wrote Wilt and two other books featuring the same title character. Wilt was the first one I read and I got hooked. There was a movie made from the book that I would like to find. He also has approx. 8-9 other titles that, of the ones I've read, are really funny.

I'm not a huge fan of Tom Sharpe's books, but I enjoyed the film of 'Wilt'; although I seem to remember it got mixed reviews.

There were also very good TV adaptations of 'Porterhouse Blue' and 'Blott on the Landscape'.

All available on DVD.

One of my first jobs was teaching English to motor vehicle students, engineering students and trainee welders and fabricators in a Further Education College. The new lecturers always got these lads, who were almost entirely uninterested in anything that didn't have an engine.
Parts of this novel are so true to life. (Not the inflatable woman, though).
