Baen's Mission of Honor CD is now available
I have made the book bound-in promotional CD for Baen's newly released David Weber's Honor Harrington novel available on my site. You can find it at http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/. It's free. It's legal. Note: I have not uploaded an ISO yet, as the source for the CD was a ZIP of the CD FTP'ed to me and I do not yet have an original of the CD. Thank you so much. I just found your site the other day from a thread here at MR. Your site is so awesome, I can't thank you enough for hosting these CDs.

Yay! Not only more books, but a Baen screensaver I didn't have yet! So I'll have tropical fish on my laptop and exploding spaceships on the desktop. I just hope they don't mate, or I'll end up with exploding tropical fish. Eww.

Wow, they packed ARC version of "Mission of Honor" on the CD.
Dahak, thank you very, very much for hosting these CD's. Have some karma. |

Their strategy has certainly worked on me. Once I bought all the books I wanted and don't have in any form as ebooks, I started in on replacing my Baen pbooks with ebooks. I'm dreaming of the day when my shelves aren't double-layered. Hey, it could happen!

Baen stands out as the model that others need to follow. Inexpensive US$6 non DRM, no GR multi-format ebooks. You buy the title and thus can access any format. Webscription monthy release bundles for US$15.
ARC (advanced reader copies)available for US$15 if you desperately need to read the next book in the series. Free library etc.... Damn fine! Last edited by sabredog; 06-21-2010 at 07:22 AM. |

I don't even read that much Sci-Fi and Baen makes me want to hug it.
They need a mascot in plushie form. Because they are wonderful. |

Awesome stuff!
I bought the MoH ARC back in January, and didn't regret a cent of it. I'll be sure to grab the updated version on 1st July when it comes out too. In the meantime, these CD's are full of amazing goodness. |

You guys thanking me should really just drop a note to Baen, thanking them.
I just host the things (and they know all about my little site). Traffic was pretty heavy the last two days... you all managed to push up to a 'really heavy' traffic day of about 45GB on Sunday, despite how late in the afternoon I left the post, and it looks like about 90GB of traffic yesterday. Aside from one or two days where some rogue bots crawled my server onto its knees (130GB+), I think this is the traffic record. I have unlimited traffic on my hosting plan, so no one needs to worry about my traffic loads. The regular traffic is usually under 20GB/day, with only the occasional spikes when new CDs arrive. I don't think I'm in any danger of needing to change from my cheap hosting plan. |
