Is Fictionwise acting in good faith over a "screwed-up" book from a publisher?

I urge you to visit this thread, located here:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...299#post364299

I'm starting a thread on this because, in my opinion, Fictionwise is NOT acting in good faith by continuing to sell a book that has the WRONG novel in the file.

Don't you think Fictionwise has an obligation to post an UPDATE on this book telling members there is currently a problem, but that as soon as the publisher fixes it, the buyer will receive the new one? -- Should this information be available to the buyer BEFORE he or she decides to buy the book? -- Or should the buyer DISCOVER this information after having bought the book?

I'm hoping Fictionwise will see this thread and add the necessary information on their website.

Don

ADDED: Fix the problem, and I'll change the heading on this thread.

What I have been wondering with FW, is why they publish e-book series where some middle parts are missing? Really, what is the point in that? I sure as hell won't be going to by any of those series. In matter of fact, I think it is more like database problem than decision made by intent.

Sometimes it's a contract issue.

Sometimes it's because publishers are still working on getting out their back catalog and aren't always interested in spending the money of creating an ebook edition all by itself so they wait & do it when the pbook version is up for a new print run & they have to work on the book anyway.

Sometimes, who knows. All of the publishers do things that don't make sense, at least not to anyone but them.

We can only hope that it'll get better as ebooks mature. I like you won't buy a series with holes generally. If it's a series I've been reading in print for years I might continue on with ebooks, but that's different.
