I have a pen pal in Texas. Having a pen pal IS a great experience and worth doing even nowadays, in my opinion. But yeah writing letters is not for everyone.

I have some friends from the service that are still in amateur radio (Ham Radio.) That is also a dying art like witting letters.

There was some Ham Radio scenes in the movie "Contact" when the heroine was a kid, but kids play video games now. They don't roll and tune frequency coils or learn Morse Code.
