Have gizmodo published details of how we can all collect our $110? Yet another example of the total unreliability of so-called "news" bloggers.

I read your post and laughed at first. 'What you need more convincing??' LOL But then I went to M-edge's site & the first thing on it says covers are coming for the new Kindles. So....yes they're coming but when, who knows. |

Anyway, there wouldn't want to be a new one coming, I just upgraded to a K4 during the week (local supermarket in Aus is selling them out at $60AUD each, and $20 for the covers). Oh forgot to add, currently there is the K4, K-Touch and K-Keyboard. Surely with all three in stock Amazon wouldn't release a 4th Kindle right now. I could be wrong but to me it seems they'd be flooding their own market with multiples of their own devices competing. Last edited by Solicitous; 08-18-2012 at 07:05 PM. |

Just consider that Amazon sells eight to ten million eink Kindles a year and have moved 6 million FIREs so far. That kind of volume allows for differentiation to address different user preferences; some folks *like* keyboards; others prefer Cheap & basic, small-and-light; while others prefer touch screens. (And let's not get into WiFi vs 3G.) One reason why Amazon sells eight to ten million kindles a year is *because* they have so many variants; you can have it (more or less) your way. Yes, but the question is WHEN. We were told by those who claimed to be "in the know" that a front-lit Kindle would be on sale in July. Then we had this nonsense from gizmodo saying that new Kindles would be out last week. The simple truth is that nobody except Amazon knows, and they aren't saying .

You didn't hear it from me, but what happened was Bezos saw the Gizmodo article and he took them up on the bet. |

Never for once did I interpret the article's title to be a bet. It's simply a reference to the price drop as being an indicator of new models. I fail to see how anyone can see a bet in there.
