Lightbulb LED reading light for iLiad

I've upgraded to a 36 LED Warm White 110V bulb I bought on eBay for $10.

This bulb works wonderfully to read in bed with the iLiad/Sony Reader.

It is absolutely quiet, no switching power supply noise like with CFL bulbs or humming tungsten filaments like you get with some incandescent bulbs.

Instant on/off unlike with CFL bulbs. And the roughly 2700K light is very warm and gentle to the eyes, very close to the color of a nice incandescent reading bulb.

It produces about 25W of incandescent light from 2.5W of electricity so you can feel really green when using it.

Rated life: 100,000 hours.

LED's, they aren't just for battery powered clip on reading lights anymore!

Yeah, when I discovered them some time ago, I get realized they are the future that will replace definitely the incandescent bulbs.

Unfortunately to me, I have still didn't try one at home

For the main areas I've begun installing the bulbs that use 5 of the Cree 1 watt LED's. These produce roughly 50W of incandescent light for a 5W input. Which is itself less than half the power input for an equivalent CFL.

In the next 18 months they will double in efficiency again so I don't advise anyone to go too crazy with buying bulbs. But for me the LED reading light has been such a nice upgrade I wanted to share my experience with it with others.
