Angry epub font size issue with DR800SG

I guess most people here may not encounter this problem, because you are using English. I downloaded some Chinese epub files, and made some by myself. After I upload them to DR800SG, they displayed well when I do not change the font size. But the default font size is small, so I wanted to change it to medium. After I did that, the page only shows in the upper half screen. Then I change the font size back to small, surprised to find out that the page now only shows at the upper-left side, at a portion of screen about the same size of 6'. Did any one encounter this problem? If so, please tell me how you solved that. Many thanks.

If you could post the offending EPUB, I can have a look... You can also PM me a link to it if you prefer to keep the file private.

We resolved some EPUB rendering issues in the current development versions of 2.0 release. This is targeted for consumer release in April.

Thanks a lot, Matthijs. Here is an example. You can try to load in and change the font size back and forth. Not every font size works well.

The other question: Does the file name support Chinese characters? It looked that the files with Chinese names cannot be opened. That's the reason I changed the name to English.

your epub doesn't contain any fonts, therefor you will only get a lot of ? and some " on your display.

Only the word "Test" can be displayed properly

Hi Overdrunk,

I opened the epub file on my DR1000 (with the new firmware), to get the latest Adobe SDK, version 9.1.0.
It looks like the book uses a fixed width and height for the amount of text on 1 page. Small font fills only 1/4 of the screen, while in X-large font I think some symbols even fall off the screen... Seems like the document is formatted and optimized for a certain device.
Perhaps you could use Calibre to edit these settings.

Anyway... I can't be sure because I don't read Chinese... I'll have to check with one of my Chinese collegues...

Thanks, Pauli.

after reading your reply, I thought it may be the software which made the epub file had the problem. But after I made a new epub file with calibre, the same thing happens. So I guess it might be DR800SG does not have good support to Chinese fonts.

I couldn't embed your font in a test epub. I used another chinese font (Song) with a fragment of your text and found no problems with font size changes.

justed checked with my Chinese collegue... It's a book about philosophy...

For some reason the DR800 uses a fixed width. When I look at the text in ADE the text width is adjusted with font size / window size.

This indeed looks like a bug. We'll analyze further, thanks for posting the file.
