Charger for PRS-505
I've spent some time today looking for a charger for my 505. I did consider the PSP charger, but found one on ebay for the Sony 505
http://cgi.ebay.com/ac-wall-charger-...:B:SRCH:US:101 it's only a 5.0v but from what I've read, I think it will be ok. I was pretty happy with the price of $7.35 out the door. |

That is nothing but a generic PSP charger, with 'PSP' crossed out and 'Sony Reader' written in the ad in crayon!
Seriously, same thing. The charger itself isn't specifically 'for' the Reader; the ad just says so. It's a common asian importPSP charger. |

Any PSP charger will work just fine with the Sony Reader.

Ah well...it was cheap and it works. Thats all I'm worried about. Doesn't surprise me though. I thought it seemed too good to be true.

My PSP-100 charger does the trick, though it lists the output as 5V rather than 5.2V. Those import chargers you get on eBay can sometimes cause issues... For something as expensive as a reader, I'd recommend investing in a brand-name Sony charger, whether for PSP or the one for the reader.

The issues can be that the output is not stable and can go up or down and that's not good. Plus you want a PSP charger that's certified. Those cheap uncertified PSP chargers can catch fire.
I once bought a cheap car charger for use with my Rio Karma and using it with the radio adaptor, I get feedback. But using the iGo car charger with a proper tip, I get no feedback. |

Exactly what I was referring to, JSWolf. Variable output can fry your battery or even worse start a fire. Power fluctuations are a leading cause of death of electronic devices. Why skimp on the charger when you spent > $250 for the reader?
