I have downloaded it twice and dragged it into my root folder and it still will not update. And the Check For Update on the device still shows No Update Available.

Very surprising move by B&N, however, it is a good one. It will only help them.

Brilliant move by B&N. They make excellent hardware at a great price but lacking access to Google Play is the very reason why I avoided the nook. It's also the reason why I avoid the kindle.
Their tablets just went from a corner market to a game player. |

Very happy with this move. Actually, I may buy one today. This is the bold move B&N was needing to stay alive and be competitive.
I actually like the current hardware, but with not enough apps, it was a waste of money and I am tired of rooting stuff to get what I need. :-) |

Great news for me. This means I'll actually use the HD+ I have, it's been sitting pretty much since I did a review when it came out. I find the HD+ hardware great, the screen is excellent, but felt so limited I always reach for my Nexus 7 instead because I don't have to jump through hoops to access the apps I want. Good move B&N.

B&N has updated their website.
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nook/379003208/ For those who found the HD+ for $149 must be feeling very good. |

And there were people asking for the same one. I think this move will temporarily boost sales. I will finish setup at home and of course, add Kindle app to it. |

Well I was very happy before this move, so I guess I am just going to have to move on up to ecstatic!
Great move B&N |

Do you purchase the apps from B&N, or from Google? I would prefer to buy from Google so I can use them on other Android devices.
Also does the update add ability to install 3rd party apps (without Android SDK tools)? |

I picked up the 16GB Nook HD for $169 during the QVC sale this past weekend. It came in on Wednesday and I was just trying to decide between the N2A and RootMyNook SD cards to get the full Android access, so this solves the issue for me.

Has anyone tried to install a launcher to see if that works? Do all Google services like calendar sync work? I think I remember that sync does not work on Kindle Fire.

I have been unable to get the new update it install. It just disappears after trying to install. There seems to be a number of people having this problem on the Nook Forums. I just checked mu HD+ again and the update finally showed up as available. I downloaded it directly to the HD+ and it installed fine.

I just bought an HD+, and have been waiting as it is on backorder. I think this is the reason why. I am very glad that this has been added. I love the chrome browser on my computer, and hated the browser on my tablet. I look forward to seeing my new nook, when I do get it.
I had heard that they were planning an anouncement on Monday as well. Wonder what that could be???? |
