Talking Dutch E-Book store opened (Bol.com)

Bol.com has opened their Dutch E-Book store. They carry the two Sony readers (prices: 199 and 299 EUR for the Pocket edition and the Touch edition respectively) as well as 1505 Dutch E-Books and 110855 English E-Books.

They have a number of free E-Books that you can download via: http://www.bol.com/nl/m/boeken/digit...tis/index.html

From a quick look it looks like E-Books are priced at roughly 80% of the paperback versions.

The launch of this store will be accompanied by a large advertising campaign to get people interested in these devices.

All in all a very good day for E-Books in general and Dutch readers in particular

It's a very good start, but I wonder how long it will take them to provide older books. I'm mostly interested in the books I read when I was a child...

Looks like Bol.com have found their way to the Gutenberg archive too :/

Oh well, the formatting in some cases seems pretty nice like this works of Vondel epub with nice footnotes...

And bol.com is the first reseller who is open about the prices:

Goedkoper

Which roughly says:

An e-book is 20% cheaper than a paperbook, this could even be more but the ebook has 19% VAT and a paper book only 6%

Could someone please report when Sony Readers appear in Dutch (physical) shops? I'd like to buy one but not sure which color and cover to choose and so would like to see them in person.

I tried to order a 300 from BOL. I wasn't allowed to, since I am living in Luxembourg. That is the very first time that something like this has happened to me, as normally the Benelux is handled as one economical entity!

Yeah, this limitation sucks. Hopefully it will appear soon in other shops.

Ha, I've been thinking of doing the same and I don't even have the excuse of a roadbook.

Isn't anyone surprised that the Dutch Automobile Association is going to sell the readers? I know I am.

(edit: yes, they also do travel, tourism, and so on but still)
