Two books did come to mind. The first is "Tunnel in the Sky" by Robert Heinlein. From memory, it is a good match except that I don't think it had the virtual environments. The other book I thought of is "Rite of Passage" by Alexei Panshin. That isn't it, but the training and testing kids brought it to mind. And I'm with the others. I hope someone identifies it as I it sounds interesting. |

Strangely enough, I had this vague suspicion that "Game" was in the title but it was so generic I wasn't sure if it was correct. Hope you enjoy it. Not sure if I remembered it correctly, or if it was even all that good, but I guess you'll find out! Last edited by Kralik; 12-20-2012 at 11:33 PM. |

It sounds interesting. Doesn't seem to be available as an eBook in the UK, unfortunately.

I have some fond memories of Monica Hughes myself - Crisis on Conshelf 10 and its later sequel Earthdark were important early SF experiences for me.

A pre-order:
"This title will be auto-delivered to your Kindle on December 31, 2030." Er . . . 2030? |

So, not sure if I should return the paper book, read it, or just donate it to the school and order the kindle version. Yea, I really don't like reading paper books any more. BOb |

This is probably a silly request, but it's been annoying me lately that I can't remember what the title of this book is.
It was a romance novel about a woman who has an affair with a Swedish king (I think) sometime between the 16th-18th centuries. I want to say the woman's name was Kristen/Christina or something similar and she was a redhead. I read it when I was around 12 so it had to be published before 1997, but the paperback copy I had was old, so I would think it was probably originally published in the 70s-80s. Sound familiar to anyone? |
