1913 juvenile fiction describing the early days of pioneer aviation. Great fun! This is the 2nd book in what was originally a 5 book series, but appears to be the only one currently available as an eBook. It's not necessary to have read the earlier book to enjoy this one, however.

Like so many other juvenile series of the time, "Roy Rockwood" was a "house name" of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, the publishing house which turned out a vast amount of juvenile fiction including the "Hardy Boys", "Nancy Drew", and "Tom Swift" series.

Running an airship took nerve, steadiness of purpose, a definite, concrete way of looking at things. Dave knew in his own mind that the Drifter was each hour speeding farther and farther away from the haunts of men. He recalled the old adage, however, which says "the more haste the less speed," and he determined to stick to the plan he had mentally outlined at the start.
