Bill Gates Top 10 Books of 2012
BillG's Top Reads of 2012. Not light reading, obviously, but certainly some interesting titles in there. I think one of my goals for next year will be to read several of these. (Some simply do not interest me, but others look to be quite interesting.)

Does the man read any light fiction.
Some heavy reading there. I've got a copy the Katherine Boo book and I'm interested in reading the Joshua Foer book. The rest... Meh.. |

Maybe I'm too cynical, but it looks like a list of books that somebody has compiled as a list of books it would look good to have read.

Both of those are on a lot of best of 2012 lists and I have them on my wishlist at my library, so I'll eventually get around to reading them.

The Katherine Boo book sounds interesting. In fact, I just got it myself.
I feel like the description said it all about the Franklin Zimring one. Don't need to read it now. As for the rest of them, I just don't have the available space in my brain for all that boring information. |

Way too cynical. This man is a polymath and certainly one of the most brilliant of the era, regardless of what else you may think of him or the company he founded. And for several of the books, there are reviews on the site. They are just the sorts of books he reads.

Not the place for this discussion, but clearly you haven't really paid attention. Yes, he's rich because he was in the right place. But that misses the point. IAC, both #9 and #10 on his list are now on my short list for next year.

Fascinating list. I've read the first part of Behind the Beautiful Forevers - It's incredible so far.
The Steven Pinker is on my TBR list A World Class Education looks fascinating, in fact I'm sure all these books are well worth reading! Thank you CRussel!! |

FWIW, I have a great deal of admiration for the man, both in terms of his technical and business ability and his charity work. |
