Great Book Titles... Never Mind The Content
Although it's a bonus if the actual content is good...
While adding this book to my Calibre collection, I felt the urge to start this thread - a collection of great book titles. Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said [Image deleted - MODERATOR] Not read yet, so can't comment on the words inside (Philp K. Dick's worth a few entries all on his own.... "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?", "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch" etc etc) The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, Or Gustavus Vassa, The African Written By Himself [Image deleted - MODERATOR] The Apprenticeship of Big Toe P : a Novel [Image deleted - MODERATOR] Great Book.... recommended by Amazon (not available in ebook, sadly) - and how could i possibly not get a book that is... "A provocative, picaresque spin on a coming-of-age story, the novel tells of a young Japanese woman who wakes up one afternoon to discover that her big toe has turned into a penis." It's not a novel, but I've always loved the title of Ken Scholes' short story Of Metal Men and Scarlet Thread and Dancing with the Sunrise.

I love "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" too! Great title, fascinating book. So prescient.
My other favorite title: "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius." Couldn't stand the book itself, but the title makes me laugh. Last edited by JaneD; 12-23-2011 at 12:18 AM. |

I think it is the best title ever to give you a complete synopsis of the book.

The Tyranny of Distance
by Australian historian Geoffrey Blainey. It covers the early years of European settlement in Australia. It certainly was an awfully long way away (by sailing ship of course) from England, where the convicts and settlers came from. |
