ETA: Not for me (Moon+ pro)...need it to automatically recognize new books in the folder and reflect the updates, would also like for it to allow me to set my default initial view with quick/easy access to collections if possible. I think I am maybe just picky but its also easier for my mother. I'll eventually need to load the winner on her device to make things easier to her to find. Yea i looked at it once or twice and could probably settle for it personally, but my 'non-tech but wannabe' mother would never get it

If you load the App and the books then Calibre Companion is dead simple to use and provides the easiest interface to launch your books from. |

I used Moon+ Reader Pro for several years. Several weeks ago, I discovered that it would inexplicably not show the endings of sections of books, i.e., if I had an omnibus collection of novels, I found that it would sometimes throw away half the title partway through. These were books converted from (free) mobi format to epubs. Every other epub reader on Android that I tried would display the book correctly. I've now switched to Cool Reader as my default epub reader. I use Calibre Companion to import books into it.
Moon Reader also has a habit of inserting strange page breaks into books with the notation 1/3 and 2/3 added. I assume this has something to do with the way some or all epubs are stored in the file container. Again, this behavior is not observer with any other Android epub reader I've tried. I miss Moon Reader a bit because it would more or less sync between phone and tablet through Dropbox, which none of the others will do as far as I am aware. |

I switched FROM Cool Reader to Google Books because I wanted the sync option. Google is a basic reader that doesn't have near the options that Cool Reader has but I wanted to start reading on my phone as well as the go-to tablet.

So I've tried working with CC some more and have found it to be useless to me. It continues to want to sync and even when I say "don't sync" it doesn't want to connect. Like it's holding connection hostage.
Also, I tried opening a PDF from CC and Moon Reader was "Noep, not valid" so i'm giving up on CC. Moon Reader+ seems to have a few nicer options than Cool Reader so I might keep it kicking around, BUT it's still not exactly what I want. It'd be nicer if Moon Reader had a "search image in folder for cover" and/or had the option to use <booktitle>.jpg/png/etc or cover.<img> in the folder as it seems Calibre will toss a file in there if each book is in it own folder (it seems). So ultimately, Calibre Companion doesn't work, but Moon Reader+ seems to be growing on me, despite it ultimate lack of options. |

As I stated previously if you need help with CC go to the Calibre Companion forum and ask for assistance. The developer monitors that forum and is willing to help folks over any obstacle they may have. Bottom line though if you bought CC from the Play store the developer would gladly refund your money if you are not happy with the app. |

CC and MoonReader+ as a combination cannot be beat. If one had a question about either program (because it was not working as presented or they were having trouble getting it to work as advertised) and a forum was available with the creator of the program, I would most certainly want to take advantage of that.
That horse has gotta want to drink that water, though. |
