Multiple copies of book on Paperwhite that won't delete
Ok, here's what I did wrong. I had a book on my Paperwhite that I sent to it from Calibre. Then I decided I didn't like the formating of the author's name, so I edited it in the metadata in Calibre and resent the file.
I ended up with two copies of the book on the Paperwhite, and neither of them will fully delete. I tried deleting them on the kindle, but I end up with 2 place holder book covers with the name of the book on them and when I try to open them it says the books are no longer on the device and won't open. I can't get rid of the icons for the books though. I tried restarting the Paperwhite. I tried reloading the books onto the device, which allows me to open the books, but I still have multiple copies that won't fully delete. I tried using Calibre to delete the files after reloading them, and got the same result. I had to reformat the device. I'm wondering if there is a less drastic solution in case I ever mess up and do this again. |

I had the same issue and I had to reset my PW2 to factory. I am not sure what the issue was. I have not had any issues since then.

you can try to navigate to the Kindle with Windows Explorer and manually delete the book's folder. The Kindle will rebuild its index automatically.

I tired that too without success. Even deleted the meta file in kindle (think that's what it was called) and it did rebuild.

Try this (no guarantees):
If this is a purchased book (and if you side-loaded it to the Kindle), AND if you put this inside a Collection, then go to the Cloud and find the book and remove it from the collection. See what happens after that. |

Nope, not a purchased book, but good thought.

The answer is, don't sideload multiple copies of the same book with the same internal identifiers but different metadata.
You WILL bork the Content Catalog. You WILL have to reset. (Or you could delete the Content Catalog manually, which requires a root shell, i.e. jailbroken. In case you want to do that, the Content Catalog is at "/var/local/cc.db") |
