Killing Osama bin Laden was probably the worst thing that could happen to them, and this new tactic of using drones doesn't make interesting copy.

That seemed to be a brilliant idea - until I tried it. I checked the results with several authors whose work I know well and it wasn't just not close, in some instances it was almost ludicrous. A shame - be great if it worked.

I was going to recommend Andrew Vachss — the hardest boiled of hard-boiled thriller fiction, the author even has an eyepatch, for chrissakes — but everything he's ever written is artificially jacked up in price on Amazon.

This is one case where buying used through alibris or abebooks would be the better bet. Flood is the first novel, which will fall apart after one reading.

Jacked up in price? Everything Vachss has ever written is still in print, and available new, from Amazon. Check http://www.amazon.com/Andrew-Vachss/e/B000APBFC2
