Dumas, Alexandre: The Count of Monte Cristo. v2, 20 Nov 2008
One of my favorite books ever. I read it fiirst at about age 16 yrs and several times since.
The Count of Monte Cristo (French: Le Comte de Monte-Cristo) is an adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas, père. It is often considered, along with The Three Musketeers, as Dumas' most popular work. It is also among the highest selling books of all time. The writing of the work was completed in 1844. Like many of his novels, it is expanded from the plot outlines suggested by his collaborating ghostwriter Auguste Maquet.[1] The story takes place in France, Italy, islands in the Mediterranean and the Levant during the historical events of 1815–1838 (from just before the Hundred Days through the reign of Louis-Philippe of France). The historical setting is a fundamental element of the book. It is primarily concerned with themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy, forgiveness and death, and is told in the style of an adventure story. Hi crutledge,
Thank you for the upload. When uploading books it is extremely important that you follow the naming convention for book threads, because this is how books are indexed. The name you must use for the thread is: author surname, firstname: book title. version, upload date I've changed the title of this thread for you, but if you could follow it in the future, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! |

Count of Monte Christo
I have posted V. 2 of the novel.
I updated the cover. The original cover contained a publisher's logo and at least one reader thought I had copied their book. The cover image came from the web and I thought it well depicted the feel of the book. The book was downloaded from Project Gutenberg. I have removed the logo and apopogize for any confusion.
