Now the real question lies in that now that we have hit Patricia's Law, is it then possible for the thread that has taken a life of its own to contunure to go all the way around to also hit Godwin's Law?

I must say I'd be deeply impressed to see a transition from an LOLCat to Nazis.

Bad mental image. Resisting urge to google LOLCat and Nazis...

Bah! You're lucky I got close enough to lob that one in! I refuse to get dragged into religious discussions, since I get nothing but beat-on for discussing politics and the ecology, which I consider to be much more important issues to discuss. You guys are on your own in here! Zippin' and gone!

What are you thinking about here? I just listened to a Swedish radio program that gave examples from the Bible and I cannot see how you from these examples can come to the conclusions that there is one teaching and that it is nice.

Yes, it would be great if we could wall them all in some kind of... camp.

Godwin's just asking for it.

Each of the four gospels presents a reasonably consistent picture. A different picture, certainly, but each one is consistent within itself, although they can be mutually contradictory. Of course, each one has its own "agenda" which one needs to take into account. That's only to be expected when one considers that they were written decades after the events they describe, in a different country, by people who certainly weren't eye-witnesses to those events. (eg the author of Mark's gospel was clearly not a Palestinian Jew - he gets the geography of the country wrong, and makes mistakes about Jewish law and customs).

Welcome Chris.

You raise a very valid point:

Why do we have data, but no online fora? Why are there no gymnasia, condominia, or aquaria in this country?! I want to know how we can be so glib about Latinised Greek!

Please note: I am not being silly. I simply cannot see how we can decline datum, quantum, and phenomenon, but cast aside the other remnants of classical language.

On a separate note, at Steve & DixieGal--

There is no reason for me or anyone else to hold your beliefs in any high regard. Granted, it may be rude to point out someone else's foibles, but it is no more or less protectable than poor grammar or spelling.

No, tompe, because the silliness here is the only thing keeping the thread from becoming a potential flame war.

Religion, cannot be discussed rationally, when it is such an emotional part of so many.

But how do you know which one to choose? I mean they are inconsistent then only one can be correct.

And personally I do not see how they can explain away incidents like the fig tree.

Maybe in this case. But that is not the case for technical threads discussing for example ePub. Since forums usually are so primitive that they cannot branch a disussion it is important to start a new thread for a branch if a branch is wanted.

I think the site you are looking for is "Cats Who Look Like Hitler" from whence is taken this immortal image:

Point taken. However, you are on MobileRead, so you are not dealing with rational people to begin with.
