ebook-reader-guide.com's ratings (Are they real?)

I've just been looking at ebook readers rated by ebook-reader-guide.com .

Although they show the Astak Mentor as "Not out yet", they have given a very high rating to the Kindle DX {which is also not out yet but they don't say that}.

Are they subsidized by Amazon or what? How can consumers trust such ratings when they are obviously based on no data other than the manufacture's advertisements?

No one yet has experience with the Kindle DX production model.

Does this bother anyone else but me?

gotta say the table, it's not very impressive. Then again that is the problem with trying to keep up tables for such a rapidly changing market. I have to agree the table shows a huge bias toward the "name brand" devices getting all the pub in the media. If you look at the info on the BeBook, they go so far as to downgrade the device for having "only" a USB 1.1 port. I am not sure if that is really the case, but other than moving a huge PDF over to the device, it is still only going to take a few seconds to transfer using USB 1.1 and odds are a user would never even notice the difference from USB 2.0 or even Firewire ports. Speed is moe important in relation to the about the volume of data being transfered and ebooks are typically too small to matter. Moving MP3's over it might then be a lot slower...becasue those are bigger files.

Did not delve further into the site since that table was enough for me.

They can't, which is why forums like this are your best resource when researching what best fits your lifestyle!

Unfortunately, there is a whole lot of new buyers who will trust these "experts".........

wow I didn't know the 700 had speakers.

and of course they give good ratings to the kindle and dx.

they get 36-39 bucks for every kindle someone buys through their link.
they will get more than 50 bucks for a DX.

but they would only get less than 20 for someone buying a 700, and less than 15 for a 505.

(so will alex, from anyone who buys a kindle from one of his links, it should give him enough money to run this site for years)

he's just trying to make money. he probably never picked up any of those devices, maybe a kindle. but still. I cant blame him. amazons got a good referer program
