Help me remember the name...

Hey there.

I'm trying to remember the name/website of an ebook store.

It feel like it starts with the letter 's', but that could be my mind playing tricks on me.

It's known for having extremely cheap books by newer authors, or authors who are less famous.

This is one of those situations where it's on the tip of my tongue, but I've been wracking my mind all day and I can't remember it.

Smashwords is the most likely.

It is primarily a distribution service for Indie publishers (hence the new, and lesser known authors) but it also operates an ebookstore that is very easy to forget exists. With cause:

Their titles can be found at Overdrive, Kobo, Nook, Apple, and a few other epub-based ebookstores, occasionally mislabeling Smashwords as the publisher.

There are almost 2000 in the Amazon Kindle store with the Publisher given as XXX via Smashwords

Smashwords claims ~300k titles.
"Almost 2000" on Amazon makes them >99% epub only.

And the three you listed are written by Coker himself. He's actually the author and publisher and isn't acting as a distributor.
Finding them on Amazon is... curious... considering how he routinely excoriates Amazon for their policies, most notably SELECT.

Typically, indie publishers will distribute directly to Kindle and use aggregators like Smashwords and Direct2Digital, among others, to reach the epub markets. Direct2Digital, in particular, is newer and smaller than Smashwords but they seem to be getting a lot of good word of mouth on the few authors sites I check out because they focus solely on improving their distribution system and don't spend time or efforts on a storefront or criticizing Amazon.
