One thing that is very legal but damaging to the author/publisher is lending pBooks.

I buy a pBook, I read it, I pass it on to all my family. I get the book back and I give it to a friend saying I don't want it back. This friend then passes it along and gives it away. Then it again makes the rounds. This can keep going on and on and it's all legal.

That was a rather stupid court case to the record industry. Because of Napster, sales of music was up. I think it was around 20%. Napster was stopped and sales dropped. Sharing is not always bad for business.
