Christmas books?

I'm looking for some good Christmas books to read. Anyone have any favorites? Although I enjoy mysteries and crime books, I prefer my Christmas reads free of darkness. Corny is fine as long as it's upbeat and a decent story.

I've read all of Debbie Macomber's books.

Thanks in advance.

A fovorite book I read every year is The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry.
Spoiler:
Jim Dillingham Young and his wife Della are a young couple who are very much in love with each other, but can barely afford their one-room apartment opposite the elevated train due to their very bad economic condition. For Christmas, Della decides to buy Jim a chain which costs twenty dollars for his prized pocket watch given to him by his father. To raise the funds, she has her prized long hair cut off and sold to make a wig. Meanwhile, Jim decides to sell his watch to buy Della a beautiful set of combs made out of tortoise shell for her lovely, knee-length brown hair. Although each is disappointed to find the gift they chose rendered useless, each is pleased with the gift they received, because it represents their love for one another.
The true unselfish love that the characters, Jim and Della, share is greater than their possessions.

There's an excellent book by Stephen Nissenbaum titled The Battle for Christmas, which is about how the traditions and rituals and images of the holiday evolved, from colonial times. It was serious without being stuffy, and quite fascinating. I believe it was published in the mid-1990s.

But why limit yourself to "A Christmas Carol"? Dickens wrote 5 "Christmas Books":

A Christmas Carol (1843)
The Chimes (1844)
The Cricket on the Hearth (1845)
The Battle of Life (1846)
The Haunted Man (1848)

And they're available at MR in Mobi and ePub format in one handy omnibus edition.

It may surprise some people to learn that the popularity of "A Christmas Carol" is a fairly recent phenomenon. Until the early 20th century, "The Cricket on the Hearth" was probably better known and more popular.

The best Christmas book has yet to be mentioned properly until now.

Quote:
Who would want to harm Discworld's most beloved icon? Very few things are held sacred in this twisted, corrupt, heartless—and oddly familiar—universe, but the Hogfather is one of them. Yet here it is, Hogswatchnight, that most joyous and acquisitive of times, and the jolly old, red-suited gift-giver has vanished without a trace. And there's something shady going on involving an uncommonly psychotic member of the Assassins' Guild and certain representatives of Ankh-Morpork's rather extensive criminal element. Suddenly Discworld's entire myth system is unraveling at an alarming rate. Drastic measures must be taken, which is why Death himself is taking up the reins of the fat man's vacated sleigh...which, in turn, has Death's level-headed granddaughter, Susan, racing to unravel the nasty, humbuggian mess before the holiday season goes straight to hell and takes everyone along with it.

My reason is because I had no idea about the others. With so many books available, it's always hard to pick which one to read. Thanks for the other 4, I'll add them to my list!

I really loved Hogfather. Both the book and the movie!
