How to convert MS word doc so their readable on my Libre?
Ok found some free downloadable versions of Dashiell Hammett's works and there in a unreadable Microsoft word doc format. Calibre can't convert them is there some way to convert them to a simple text file or other format that's compatible with the Libre? Thanks for any constructive post .

Could try Atlantis Word Processor, according to the MR Wiki it can do .doc -> ePub. It has a free trial period but isn't freeware.
http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/downloads.htm Alternatively try poking through the rest of this list. Even if one doesn't open .doc files, maybe you can find one that will let you copy and paste the document over without losing formatting. https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/EPub...ation_software |

Can you save the .doc file as an .html file and let Calibre convert that?

You could open the file in MS Word and save as a .rtf (rich text file), then use calibre to convert from .rtf to your desired format for your reader.

Open it in word, or other word document reader, save as, choose rtf instead of doc.
I can change about 3 books in a minute if I hustle. |
