Any good Zombie books out there?

Not sure if this was mentioned in this thread but a good zombie novel is "Monster Island: A zombie novel" by David Wellington.

Z Nation was a good show (thank you Netflix), thought it was similar to the Walking Dead, but then the zombies were obviously different, and the premise of the show is very interesting. Can't wait for the second season!!

Just finished the third in Diana Rowland's White Trash Zombie series. Good fun, with a different perspective on the Zombie genre, told from the viewpoint of an engaging and moral zombie woman.

+1 for that one. I finished them all and cant wait for the 5th in October. I've listened to all of them as the narrator is superb.

Unique spin on zombies. It's not a virus, it's a parasite.
Plus here's what GR profile about Diana Rowland says

Diana Rowland worked as a bartender, a blackjack dealer, a pit boss, a street cop, a detective, a computer forensics specialist, a crime scene investigator, and a morgue assistant, which means that she's seen a lot of weird crap. She won the marksmanship award in her Police Academy class, has a black belt in Hapkido, has handled numerous dead bodies in various states of decomposition, and can't rollerblade to save her life.

Believe me when I say that when the author knows what she's talking about shows as a major strength in these books. Because the main character Angel Craford ends up working in a morgue and around cops. Rowland's experience shows through the believability of her prose. She's not just making shit up, even though it's a fantasy book.

But you're right, the realism does enhance the story telling.

Personally I have been on somewhat of a Zombie book bemder of lates I have read five series of late about Zombies including one that is rather unique ZVR. The zombies are in a small town which has also been beset by re-animated raptors from the dinosaur era.

I'm very disappointed in zombies lately, since they seem not to care about the quality of the brains they need. They seem to settle for second-rate brains, such as the brains of carpenters* and used-car salesmen*.

In the meantime, my search for intelligent zombies continues. I will keep everyone in this thread posted on my search.

If you know of a zombie capable of higher mathematics, please share the name of the author and title.




*I am in no way impugning carpenters or used-car salesmen, but we must be very clear here: Would you prefer the brains of a used-car salesman over the brains of a politician?

Well in book 4, How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back, which I have just started, Angel has just scraped through her GED. Does that count...?

Have you tried the "iZombie" comics or TV show? It's essentially a dramedy police procedural in which the star (a zombie coroner) solves crimes in part by ingesting the memories (if you get my drift) of the recently-deceased.

The humor mainly comes through the fact that she also picks up parts of their personalities.

I'm in Peru at the moment, so 'no' to both suggestions.

I much prefer reading, rather than watching television.

However, I appreciate you taking the time for the suggestions.

If I recall correctly, Janet Van Dyne continues to do sciency things well into her zombie years in the Marvel Zombies graphic novel. It's been a few years since I read it, so I may be wrong.

It also happens to be a series of graphic novels, so I think it still counts. Also a few tie in novels.

I know that, but if only AdamJ mentioned that. Instead he makes a generic and not relevant post.
Graphic novels to me and to a lot of people aren't books. They are graphic novels.
Tie in novels aren't so good unless you are already a tv series fan, and if you're not I wouldn't call them "good zombie books".
