Calibre won't move my library to my PRS500

Hi

First, well done for creating Calibre -it's everything the Sony software should have been and more. But...

I've been diligently adding my ebook collection to Calibre over the last week and have now connected my freshly emptied PRS500 (I also uninstalled the Sony software). Problem is, Calibre doesn't want to send the ebook collection to the reader! Here's the error I get;

Could not create file /Data/media/books/Dolores Clairborne - Stephen King_33.lrf. Response code: 0xffffffd7L

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "calibre\gui2\device.pyo", line 57, in run
File "calibre\gui2\device.pyo", line 220, in _upload_books
File "calibre\devices\prs500\driver.pyo", line 168, in run_session
File "calibre\devices\prs500\driver.pyo", line 892, in upload_books
File "calibre\devices\prs500\driver.pyo", line 168, in run_session

File "calibre\devices\prs500\driver.pyo", line 168, in run_session

PathError: Could not create file /Data/media/books/Dolores Clairborne - Stephen King_33.lrf. Response code: 0xffffffd7L

Any advice???

OK, I found how to open the window, but it replies that it cannot create the directory. I9 should advise that, after having some problems with calibre finding the PRS500, I deleted the driver from Device Manager as advised on the download page for the application. I also cannot use the .inf file in the calibre download folder as Windows tells me that I can't install this type of file in this way.

Any more tips?

Sorry, one last reply - I've checked Device Manger and it's reinstalled successfully and Calibre has found the PRS500. It still won't move any files over though...

Here's an update - I once again tried that command in a terminal window and calibre produced this error after I typed the first line

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "main.py", line 716, in device_detected
File "calibre\devices\prs500\driver.pyo", line 168, in run_session

File "calibre\devices\prs500\prstypes.pyo", line 652, in __init__
PacketError: Response packets must have their number set to 0x1000

Any more details?

OK, OK, problem resolved. There were some small but very important steps missing from your advice. Probably obvious to programmers, but maybe not everyone

First, Calibre needs to be fully shut down. Second, the PRS500 needs to be connected, but NOT have the 'do not unplug USB' symbol on screen. THEN the above instructions will work.

Thanks for the tip nonetheless. Now enjoying my full collection on the reader!
